We understand that entrusting your home and beloved pets to others is a deeply personal decision.
Below are a few questions thoughtful homeowners often ask when considering care.
Who will be caring for our home and pets?
Home Haven is personally run by Pashet and Raj, with one or both of us personally caring for your home and companion animals throughout your guardianship. We intentionally remain carefully limited in the number of households we support each year so that every home receives thoughtful, attentive care. As availability can become limited, we recommend enquiring early where possible.
Do you stay in the home throughout the booking?
Yes. Home Haven is a live-in guardianship service, meaning one or both of us remain present within the home throughout the agreed stay. We believe gentle day-to-day presence offers reassurance not only for companion animals, but also for homeowners who value their home remaining quietly cared for, attended to and respectfully lived-in while they travel.
Are you insured / DBS checked?
Yes. We are DBS checked and fully insured for the work we do. We are also pet first aid qualified and approach each guardianship with care, discretion and professionalism.
How do pets typically settle while we are away?
Every animal is different, though most settle best when familiar routines remain consistent. We take time to understand feeding, walks, favourite places, sleeping arrangements and individual quirks so that life feels as familiar and reassuring as possible while you are away. In our experience, gentle consistency, calm companionship and respecting established routines help animals settle naturally over time.
Will we receive updates while travelling?
Yes, entirely according to your preference. During our introductory meeting we discuss how often you would like updates and what feels most comfortable for you. Some homeowners appreciate regular photographs and notes, while others prefer only essential communication so they can fully relax while travelling. We adapt to the rhythm that feels right for you.
What happens if something unexpected arises?
Should anything unexpected arise, we remain calm, practical and communicative. Whether it is a household issue, a pet concern, or something requiring attention within the home, we would contact you promptly and follow any agreed guidance. Where appropriate, we can also liaise with your preferred local contacts, such as vets, neighbours, gardeners or household professionals.
How is our home cared for while we are away?
Every home has its own rhythm and requirements. Whether period, listed, architectural or contemporary, we care for homes thoughtfully and respectfully, following agreed routines and household preferences carefully. We are happy to accommodate domestic staff, deliveries and agreed household arrangements while ensuring the home remains quietly cared for in your absence.
What is the minimum booking period?
We generally accept guardianships of seven nights or more, allowing time for companion animals to settle, routines to remain consistent and care to feel calm rather than rushed. Shorter arrangements may occasionally be considered for returning households where calendars allow.
Do you offer pop-ins or walk-only visits?
Home Haven is a live-in guardianship service and we do not currently offer pop-in visits or walk-only arrangements. Our approach is centred around continuity, presence and keeping companion animals settled within the familiarity of home.
How do we begin the process?
We usually begin with a quiet introductory conversation to understand your home, companion animals and travel plans. If it feels like a good fit for everyone, we would then arrange an in-person meeting before confirming dates and arrangements.
